Langham Preaching “HELPS”

LANGHAM PREACHING HELPSThis year, a new and exciting “service” to participants of Langham Preaching seminars has begun.  Participants who have access to email can now receive preaching HELPS on a monthly basis.

Each monthly HELPS sheet is a brief overview for pastors, focused on a single important message to help them preach more clearly, faithfully and with relevance to their audience.  Jennifer Cuthbertson, Coordinator for Trainer Development for Langham Preaching, developed the HELPS sheets, and the translation into French and Spanish allows them to be accessible to as many preachers as possible around the world.

The August 2013 HELPS sheet, the fourth in the series (see picture), was suggested by Ma’afu Palu – Langham Scholar from Tonga.  It is titled “Walk Hand-in-Hand” and reminds preachers of the importance of evaluating each other’s sermons to help refine and improve their preaching. This message ties in so well with a key aspect of Langham Preaching – the formation and ongoing activity of local Preachers Clubs, in which all Langham Preaching participants are encouraged to join and actively participate.

Langham Preaching trainers often hear positive feedback about the value of the training. As one pastor from a Pacific nation said, “The early days of my ministry I felt out of my depth. Praise God – this training is equipping me with tools to help me in God’s ministry.”

The preachers’ clubs and now the HELPS sheets provide ongoing guidance and support to the many preachers around the world who have benefitted from the Langham training.

Please pray for these monthly HELP sheets as they go out – that they are used well in preaching clubs, in churches, in colleges, by individual pastors, and Bible teachers in their own preparation and preaching and in their training of others.  Please pray too for Jennifer as she prepares these monthly “offerings,” and pray that God will bless and use this ministry.
