Dear friends

Thank you for praying for the work of Langham Preaching.  Here are some notes of thanksgiving and some items for prayer for the week ahead.

South Sudan: Emmanuel Oladipo (Regional Coordinator) writes, ‘We had a richly blessed Level 1 seminar, although the numbers were fewer than expected. We praise the Lord for the way participants were able to grasp the principles and for their keenness to invite others to join them in the Preachers Clubs they are setting up.’

East Africa: The trainers’ workshop for 15 coordinators and facilitators proved to be a significant occasion. Jennifer Cuthbertson (Coordinator for Trainer Development) writes, ‘The participants loved working together. They were a joy to work with and eager to learn, every step of the way. Even though there were some struggles with new material, they persevered and we were so pleased with all we learned together.’

Nigeria: A Level 1 and 2 will be held near Benin City and 50 participants are expected. Emeka Egbo (Country Coordinator) asks us to ‘pray for a time of good learning and that the Pastors will find the workshop useful in understanding the skills that they are being taught’.

Burundi: A Level 1, originally planned for last week, will be held in Ngozi with Emmanuel Bagumako facilitating the team of trainers. Please continue to pray for Emmanuel and Gladys as they mourn the loss of Gladys’ mother and for the smooth running of this event.

Thailand: On Friday, there is a meeting in Bangkok to discuss the possibility of a work commencing in Central Thailand. Pray for a strong and diverse participation and for Seree Lorgunpai (a Langham Scholar) and Paul Windsor, as they facilitate the meeting towards a decisive conclusion.

Kenya: A Refresher day takes place this week for the Lower Eastern and Nairobi regions. 35 participants will attend and represent a blend of those who have received training in Level 1, 2 & 3.
Mercy Ireri (Country Coordinator) asks to pray ‘for safety in travel, a productive day of learning together and that those who attend will remain committed to the vision of promoting Biblical preaching in their area.’

Central African Republic: Given the level of risk and danger in Bangui at the moment, the difficult decision has been made to postpone the launch of the work. This is disappointing for everyone, but as Nupanga Weanzana says, ‘The time of God has not come yet.’  Please pray that the time will come soon – and for Nupanga and Mike McGowan (Regional Coordinator) as they continue to discern when that time will be.
