Preaching in Malaysia, Zimbabwe, Indonesia…19May2014

Dear Friends

Thank you for your prayers for the work of Langham Preaching around the world. Here are the news items for the week ahead.

Malaysia: Paul Barker (facilitator) writes ‘give thanks for a profitable week with 19 participants including several pastors and a Bishop. Please pray for wisdom for the way forward in Malaysia, whether to start work in other languages (Chinese, Tamil, Malay) and how to develop the English speaking work’.

Zimbabwe: Gary Cross (facilitator) has written to inform us that 22 people attended the Level 1, 7 people the Level 2 and 16 people the Level 3 events held in Harare last week. In the 6th year of running these preaching events, the team was encouraged as they reviewed together their commitment to expository preaching which is faithful to the text and relevant.

Indonesia: Give thanks to God for the vibrancy and breadth of the preaching movement in this country. At its heart lies an effective country committee and an active team of local trainers. This week they gather for a third ‘training of trainers’ seminar near Bogor. Pray for Victor Nikijuluw and Beatris Pangala (country coordinators) as they organise – and for Mee Fang, Rosemary Aldis and Paul Windsor as they facilitate. Pray for ‘ever-deepening levels of understanding, skill and commitment to each other’.

South Africa: This week a Level 1 and Level 2 will be held in Limpopo Province. The facilitators will be Dr Frank Shayi (country coordinator), Thulani Moyo and Shearsby Mupfudzapake. 30 participants are expected including some from Zambia. Shearsby asks us to pray ‘that the event will be fruitful especially as it is the first time we are using local facilitators. We are very encouraged to see the seed which was planted by Emmanuel Oladipo and Chris Wright continuing to grow’.

Turkey: Training which will look at preaching from the gospels will take place in Antalya and Istanbul this week. Mark Meynell (regional coordinator) asks us to pray ‘for deepening friendship and a commitment to the faithful handling of the Scriptures in an authentically Turkish way’.

Thanks for your prayers!
